This mix is a celebration of my good friends dojoe and kaomau, created to commemorate their wedding day. It was, quite appropriately, mixed using the DJ controller dojoe gifted me a while ago. I fully blame dojoe and his teaching skills for the fact this mix happened at all. He's the reason I finally gave mixing a proper go after on-and-off dabbling over what I'm sure is 20 years by now.

The challenge I set myself was to cover a range of genres that hopefully represent both spouses, with a few extra flavors I've thrown in simply because I like them; I'm the one mixing, after all. ;-)

Like everything in life, nothing is perfect, and neither is this mix. It's the fifth iteration of a multi-months-long endeavor to find the right tracks, fitting genres, usually appropriate track titles, and mostly meaningful lyrics. It took a lot of work, and while not directly comparable to the mountain of work a marriage is, I hope you'll enjoy your time together at least as much as I enjoyed working on this mix.

It started out as a K-Pop-meets-Drum-and-Bass mix with detours into Demoscene vibes. Over time, it branched out into Rave, Jungle, Electronica, Psytrance, Rap/Hip-Hop, and even led me down the rabbit hole of K-Bass as a genre, which finally gave me the right term to search for!

That being said, all the best to you, kaomau and dojoe. May you have a long, healthy, and happy life together, and may you always find enjoyment in coming back to this mix in times that require a soundtrack <3
